To enhance the level of visibility and recognition to the highest degree for every entry in a TCA, INC. shows, both Purebred Cats and Household Pets are now able to excel in a new points system.  This encourages owners and breeders to continue entering their show cats in order to garner ever higher awards, and it offers greater advantage through advertising High Point Winners on owners’ and breeders’ web sites as well. 

TCA, INC. has initiated a high point award system covering a five (5) year period beginning in 2003 and extending through 2007, after which five (5) year periods will continue on a sliding window format.  In addition there will be a high point accumulation and reporting for each show year beginning in 2003. The Top Ten High Point Winners will be announced at the end of each year and at the end of each five (5) year period. 

The TCA, INC. Sliding Window Achievement Scoring will consist of a five year period, which extends from the current year back five years prior. Such that, when this system extends into its sixth (6) year, the first year, 2003, will drop off and the sixth year will continue as part of the next five (5) year period.  Thus 2006 is the fourth year of the current 5 year window (2003-2007). 

It works this way:         2003-2007 – First Award Period
Next 5 year window     2004-2008 – Second Award Period
Next 5 year window     2005-2009  – Third Award Period

HOW THE SCORING IS COMPUTED:

For Purebred and Household Pet shows, all classes are included in the scoring except the Fun Classes.

First Place                    100 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Second Place                 95 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Third Place                     90 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Fourth Place                   85 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Fifth Place                      80 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Sixth Place                     75 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Seventh Place                 70 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Eighth Place                    65 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Ninth Place                     60 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class
Tenth Place                    55 points + 1 point for each cat defeated in the class

ADDITIONAL SCORING FOR CHAMPIONSHIP CLASS WINNERS:

10 points for Best in Show
 5 points for Second Best in Show
 3 points for Third Best in Show

All scoring will be maintained and reported by the TCA, Inc. Head Registrars.
